My young adult

photo3And so on the 12th of July 2013 we arrive at another huge milestone in our lives!

We have one less teenager at home. Moo is officially a little adult, today he turns 20

If my son would like to listen to me one last time….and take a few useful tips, some good old advice from his mother, or just listen to my nonsense once more; this is what I’d like to give or tell him:

  • Be kind to people. It’s a super power you will have
  • Credit cards are evil
  • There is no such thing as “soul mate”. I’m sorry to say this, but there really isn’t one. You have to find someone & then you have to work hard at making that person your soul mate. Grow into that perfect relationship
  • Algebra really is useless
  • Use your heart and head to make decisions, not just the one
  • Life is easier when you’re honest
  • Be grateful for your blessings. Write your troubles in sand, carve your blessings on stone. If your problems look as big as a ship, remember your blessings are as wide and as deep as the ocean
  • Isaiah 40:8 says: “The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever”  Put God first in your life, always! And you will be eternally happy
  • Dance and sing and laugh as much as possible, it is as important as food, water and air
  • Try to picture us (your old parents) as not so bad twenty-something year olds. We were pretty cool back then, we just learned a thing or two over the years and have more experience than you
  • Time flies! Yes it really does, so enjoy every minute and savour special moments to the fullest
  • Go to more concerts
  • Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong. When you are wrong, admit it
  • Say sorry, it’s another special superpower
  • I don’t care how old you are, you will always be my baby boy. Dealt with it, I aint changing
  • If you need me call me, I don’t care if I’m sleeping, I want to hear your voice. I’m always there for you whatever I’m doing is not important, you are
  • Always take time to admire the sunsets, rainbows, starlit sky and the birds singing
  • Remember your prayers. Prayer is the breath of the soul, the channel of all blessings. This is my favourite quote from one of EGW’s books _ Prayer Was the Breath of His Soul – Communing thus with God, Enoch came more and more to reflect the divine image. His face was radiant with a holy light, even the light that shineth in the face of Jesus. As he came forth from these divine communings, even the ungodly beheld with awe the impress of heaven upon his countenance. His faith waxed stronger, his love became more ardent, with the lapse of centuries. To him prayer was as the breath of the soul. He lived in the atmosphere of heaven. • I want you to have all the things I could never afford, so I can move in with you. Or you can just buy me a sports car, a Harley and a house by the sea
  • I feel lucky every day I’m with you, my heart is where ever you are

Wishing you the happiest of birthdays my son. Happy 20th Birthday Moo.

Welcome to adulthood. And oh, please don’t move too far away from us,
I promise I will behave

Lots of LOVE from MA 🙂
